Green Dress from Atonement
For starters, I've decided that I'd like to make the pattern for the Green Dress from Atonement for the final project in my patternmaking class. The class is going really well so far and I'm learning a lot. The book is terrific - at first I thought it was not going to be helpful at all, but it really is great. On Monday I took the day off to work on my own projects because I worked all weekend. It was very refreshing and got me re-energized about sewing. I worked on making simple things for our house next year out of scrap fabrics I found in my stash. Linens and homespuns. Cloth napkins, table runners, and dish towels. The dish towels turned out quite lovely with gro-grain ribbon trim.
I'm currently working on a few bags for the Etsy shop while waiting on another fitting from a customer.
Vince's grandfather had a heart attack on Monday night and so Vince and his family came home from vacation early to be with him. Vince's grandfather is currently still in the hospital in intensive care. My grandfather is also sick - he has pneumonia, a result of his low immune system due to his lukemia and treatments. We're praying that both of them get well soon.
So, this week has been sort of unique. Vince and I spent the day together today having a picnic lunch in the county park and enjoying nature together. It's good to have someone to share life's sorrows and joys with.
