Chemise a la Reine

The Chemise a la Reine is FINALLY finished!

It doesn't look very complicated - it wasn't very complicated, but it took FOREVER! All of the drawstrings were sewn by hand, so it took awhile. I scaled up the pattern from Norah Waugh's book "The Cut of Women's Clothes: 1600-1930". The fabric was two curtains that the customer had purchased at a thrift store. The sash at the waist is a changeable grey blue/purple silk taffeta. The dress is really quite lovely. I think that it will look a lot better on a real person. It was tough getting it to look like much of anything on the dress form. It was made for a woman slightly larger than the dress form, too, so I had to stuff the bust area. ; )
