:::Spring Break Recap and NEW YORK:::

Spring Break was DIVINE! I spent the week relaxing at home with my family and little doggie. The weather was so great the first few days and then it got even better when it snowed during the end of the week, afforing me the opportunity to take my 1950s jacket clad doggie out to play in the snow. She was adorable! Rather than make the new silk ballgown I had planned, I spent the time making three cage crinolines for customers while watching costume flicks and consuming mass quantities of chocolate - my specialty.

It's official - our Costume Design class is making the trek to New York next week to visit the fabric district - my first time. I'm so excighted. I really want to check out silk moire fabrics and olive green silks for civil war dresses. At my internship at Wheatland I looked at a really gorgeous off-white moire silk ballgown that I adored. I really want to make a repro of it for fun. It had a magnificent train, too. =) And I've 'always' wanted an olive green silk dress like the one in 'The Painter's Honeymoon' (I think that's what it's called...) so I'm always on the lookout for olive colored silk.

While Vince was in Tennessee over break I took the opportunity to purchase many yards of silk for my growing stash. Heh. The source of this yummy silk is a location unknown to many local reenactors that is completely my secret. : ) Love that.
