1700s Dress Pattern

Blue Silk 1700s Ballgown

I'd like to use this pattern from 'Patterns of Fashion' for the Blue Silk Ballgown. I adore the pleating style of the skirt with it's deep knife pleats and protrusion of fabric at the back of the dress. The detail of the bodice back is also very intriguing. I don't admire the front of the bodice quite as much, but perhaps it can be trimmed to make it more interesting. And the skirt will be gathered up in the Polonaise style. I'd like the trim to be very elaborate and detailed, particularly on the front of the skirt and the CF bodice, but also on the sleeves.

I've selected a gorgeous pink silk from my stash for the stays, and the shift will be of a sheer linen. ; )
