So I'm pondering the idea of making a dress like this for graduation. It just occured to me today that I don't have any set ideas of what I will wear for the ceremony. I have a nice linen skirt with embroidery and matching sweater set that is cute, but it might be neat to have something navy blue. I'm really into that color right now and wish I had more of it. It just occured to me the other week that I never really wear that color - and since I purchased a navy blue bracelet I had to get some clothing to match. ; )

This is a picture of a 1950s/60s inspired dress that I saw at Target. Isn't it cute? My dress would be in navy blue heavy cotton with a satin finish. The belt would be silk satin ribbon and would be about half the size as the one pictured. It might be neat to have a shell belt buckle at the center front with the ribbon - not sure what color the ribbon would be though. The skirt would be pleated similarly except with more attention to detail - the pleats would change direction at the center front, and I might do them 'double thickness'. I'm thinking I would also make the skirt a bit longer, probably just below the knee.

Gee. I wonder what I would do for shoes. I need to work on that. I guess I have to be good at walking in whatever I wear!
