New York - Here I come!
Tonight is reserved for preparations for my New York trip tomorrow! My costume design class is taking a fabric swatching trip to NY to swatch fabrics for our 'School for Scandal' designs. I'm currently working on finalizing those designs. More research, printing, and sketching ahead. I'll probably work on it in the car tomorrow, too.
Today was sort of awesome. I did laundry and ironed this morning while finishing up the Lancaster County Civil War Living History Association newsletter that hopefully will go out tomorrow. Then I had my three classes and went to see my 1660-1830 English history Prof afterwards about my research paper. My topic is something to do with textile manufacturing innovations during the late 1700s early 1800s in England - I need to hammer the questions and bibliography out before Friday. Afterwards I did more 1700s costume history research and worked on the newsletter before dinner with Vince, and now more research. Then Pilates with my new pink mat, shower, and curl my hair for tomorrow.
I love the dress in the pic above - but if I made a repro of it where could I ever wear it? A halloween costume party maybe... I'm sure it would cost a fortune to purchase that much tulle! Could you imagine sewing with that much fabric? Insane! Practically, it could probably be made with a much less full skirt and then the wearer would always have the option of wearing additional tulle petticoats with it for extra fullness.
