I'm a Married Woman Now!
Our October 18th Wedding was just what it should have been. Everything went smoothly and the whole thing was a dream. I had a marvelous time the evening before at the Rehearsal and Dinner. Vince's mother planned a very nice Rehearsal Dinner at Annie Bailey's in Lancaster City. Their upstairs room was perfect for a little party. :) After the dinner I went back to the Bed and Breakfast with my three bridesmaids and had a good time catching up with them. It was sooooo good to have them all in town!
The day of the Wedding I woke up early to get things set up over at Rock Ford, where the Reception was later held. There was plenty to do at the tent that morning and we had all hands on deck. Even Vince's Dad showed up to help. We finished every last detail just in time, and I hurried off to prepare for the Ceremony!
We arrived at the church just in time...but for once I wasn't going to stress at all! :) The Ceremony was beautiful and included the Hands Ceremony reading and reading of love letters that Vince and I had written eachother.
Vince's mom surprised us with a horse drawn carriage ride from the church to the reception site. What a terrific time! I'll always cherish those memories of riding through the Lancaster County Park with my new husband!
The Reception was delightful. I enjoyed the photography sessions very much - Lauren Fisher did a fantastic job, and it was fun posing with Vince and the attendants. I must say, the Tent decor turned out fabulously! All of those votive candles were PERFECT. A couple times my mother told me that those candles were way too expensive and not worth it...but it turns out that they were worth every last penny. They totally made the ambiance of the reception magical! Lots more pictures to follow as soon as they surface!
For our honeymoon we travelled to the Brandywine Valley - where we went on our first date and were later engaged. We had a very enjoyable time travelling around to different Bed and Breakfasts and touring local history and art museums. I can't wait to go back again! One of the most enjoyable parts was the last day. We went to the Hagley Museum in the morning - I didn't think that it was going to be that great - but the fall leaves on the trees were really STUNNING! The museum shows where the DuPonts started making gunpowder back in the early 1800s, and features lots of old buildings that stretch over many acres of the property along the river. We didn't have much time to walk around, but the time we did spend there was BEAUTIFUL. Later we took a two hour train ride on a local historical railroad. The train crossed the river many times and the fall leaves on the trees were so DELIGHTFUL to look at.
Since returning from the Honeymoon I've been very busy. We are getting ready for a dinner party...on Wednesday? We've tried to push back the date since it's for a Bible Study group...but I'm not sure if it will be happening or not! We're trying to get the whole house pretty much decorated in time!
While on our Honeymoon...towards the end, we got a call that my Grandfather died. He has been battling Lukemia for about 4 years. We knew that the Doctors had told him that he only had 6 months, but he really seemed to be doing so well, and we just didn't expect it to happen so quickly. I will miss him deeply. He was a very intelligent, witty, and funny man who always loved to make people laugh. The remembrance of his love of magic and practical jokes will always make me smile. Now my prayers are with my Grandmother, who will continue this journey of life alone. I played my flute - the first public performance in about 3 years - at the Funeral. It was a good thing to be with family; to mourn and celebrate his life and the promise of eternal life together.

Congratulations again on your wedding, Lindsey! It was like a fairytale ; )
I'm so sorry to hear that your Grandfather passed away. I so loved the prayer written by him that your father read at the wedding. It was beautiful.
I'm glad to hear you're doing well! Good luck with your dinner party!
