Rock Ford Candlelight Tours
The other night I participated in an evening program at Rock Ford Plantation called 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'. It was essentially a short theatrical performance of the tale that took place amongst visitors in various rooms of the home. The museum hired professional actors from local theatres to perform the lead roles. They were quite good. This is a picture taken by the newspaper of the docents that volunteered. My mother is on the left in her ivory cotton dress, I am in the middle in the green sheer dress - borrowed from mom, and Katrina is on the left in a blue silk dress that I made her. We had an excellent time. Katrina led the dancing in the hallway of the Plantation House which we were there to participate in. The whole house was lit by candlelight. Here you can see how elaborately the table was decorated. But, although some of the food was edible we were warned not to eat it. That didn't stop one of the actors from eating quite a few old pieces of food like the sausage. Yuck!
The program will be running this Friday night the 18th and next Friday night, too. Check out their website www.rockfordplantation.org
