Reading the Authentic Campaigner Forum makes me so BLUE. It's ridiculous how the members of the forum are so anal about everything! When someone forgets to sign their name at the bottom of a post the moderators always retort with some nasty comment in red type. Who cares? They forgot to sign their name, is it that much of a CRIME? I hate posting on there just because the moderators seem so RUDE. One night at Speedy's house we were all sitting around - won't mention names - and some members of the Hardtack Society who were getting a little tipsy were having a long drunken discussion about the Authentic Campaigner Forum. I think they were a little ANNOYED by the moderators, too. Just FUNNY that people talk about it when they're drinking. : )
Anyway, it's strange that people on the AC take up so much time talking about things that don't really matter. Like the difference between 'Progressive' and 'Hardcore' reenactors. Ummm...let's think, does it really matter? It's so SILLY that so many people on the AC and other cw forums think they're so hot and then you meet them at an event its such a huge DISAPPOINTMENT. As far as looking authentic, they aren't really fooling anyone.
I don't care if I'm considered 'Progressive', 'Hardcore', or 'Complete Farb', I'm just going to keep striving to look exactly like an 1860s woman and not worry about all of the rest. Reenacting, after all, is supposed to be fun. : )

Wow, I didn't know anyone else felt that way about Authentic Campaigner! I don't even go on the forum anymore because the whole atmosphere is so stuffy.
Ha! Funny! Me, too. I usually just check to see if anyone is selling anything good in the for sale section. : )
Oh my...we have had many a conversation about the AC forum with my reenacting buddies. I think for the most part, there are several of us out there who feel the same way. There are a lot of people out there who reenact on the forums and that's about it. I don't post too often on the AC forum either. I check it every day, but for the most part it's basically a waste of time. :-P
