Surprise Project: Pictures Finally!

This is the surprise project that I was working on several weeks ago! Bags for my Bridesmaids! I didn't want to post pictures before all the girls had received their lovely bags - and the final bag was received yesterday. I made these bags to mail to each of the three friends I wanted to ask to be my Bridesmaids. The Maid of Honor - Carrie - was called prior to the mailing. She was so honored to be included in the wedding party - and I'm so thrilled that she accepted! We were best friends since Middle school and throughout High school. I told her I would mail her an official invite, so she was still suprised when the bag arrived!

The bags took a little longer to make than I expected. The handles were, besides being overpriced, difficult to put in. It was hard to fit the bag under the sewing machine when the handles were pinned in. So, it took awhile! I love the fabric though. I found it at the PA Fabric Outlet in Leola. My friend, Katie, was there when I picked it out. She later purchased some for bags she plans to sell on Etsy. I can't wait to see how her bags turn out - she plans to make them in a different style.

The invitations were sooo fun to make! I'm thinking of using this same sewn technique for some other wedding stationery. Possibly the save the date cards and the programs. I love how it's completely 'me'. :)

Best part: I have enough fabric to make at least two more bags, and I purchased handles and velvet to use, too. So now I just have to find time. I'd like to make one to list on Etsy and one to keep!
