Sewing Sewing Sewing. That is my life for now. The other day I purchased an Overlock machine - something I've been looking into doing for a little while. I thought it would be helpful as I venture into sewing more modern clothing.
Thursday night I cut out the bodice for my angel costume. The process was delayed until that point because the pattern went missing...it was a Vogue, too, so you know how that goes - can't buy them until they go on sale (too expensive). But finally, after much frustration, the pattern was found. I used my new overlock on the project, and it made the process oh so much faster. I finished the dress last night. My mother helped me with it because after sewing all day I am so sluggish and never want to sew at night. Eventually I have to fix that.
Today at work I'm adding the gold trim to the skirt and bodice. The dress has three layers, a white underlayer, a sheer gold over layer and a top layer of ivory netting - actually swimsuit lining. It has a great sparkly quality. The bodice is an empire style that goes off the shoulder and overlaps at the center front with pleats. Very cool. The bodice is from Vogue pattern number 2134.
Yesterday after work I stopped at JoAnns for a new pair of scissors, and then headed over to the grocery store. It was drizzling and horribly romantic. And a cute guy with a Penn State hat obviously thought I was cute. Heh. It made me feel smart looking in my grey wool pants, silver shoes, cordoroy blazer and cashmere wrap. And I love autumn! I don't want it to go away! I'll have to wait so long for it to return again. Boo Hoo!
