Downtown

This weekend Vince came home to visit! Today we went downtown together where we checked out the fabulous vintage shops. I was searching for a red 1950s-60s party dress for my mother to wear to the opening of 'Voices of Christmas' at Sight and Sound. I already have a 1950s-60s evening gown that is green taffeta - I purchased it a few years ago while on an Explorer Post camping trip. I plan to wear that but wanted my mother to have something vintage to wear as well. So...I shopped at the new Mommalicious location and found a white fur stole to go with my gown and a red satin clutch. At Zap and Co. I found the perfect red party dress - a red taffeta moire with a petal effect on the bodice and a matching belt with bow at front. The skirt is full but not gathered. I LOVE it! I purchased it an it fit her perfectly! Yippee!

After that we headed over to Central Market where we ate some delicious Pennslyvania Dutch foods for lunch. Yum!

This evening we had dinner with my family at Pasqualles - an Italian restaurant. This evening after Vince left I was working on the vintage dress ensembles for Opening. I got to looking for some jewelry to match the dresses and ended up reorganizing my entire jewelry collection. Which turns out to be larger than I thought! Not surprising though, because I think I average about five new additions each week! I am crazy about vintage jewelry!

All of this vintage shopping got me to thinking about the possibility of opening my own vintage shop someday. Definitely a thought. Or sell vintage jewelry online. I've always wanted to own a shop...I just think it would be marvelously funnish...and a lot of work, but still adventurously enjoyable. Looking back through my jewelry and finding some of the pieces that I made was inspiring, too. Sometimes I think I forget about the things that I do know how to do. I would love to learn how to make jewelry...but not out of a book. I don't like the things that people make that are inspired by a package or a book on how to make jewelry...I like unique vintage looking pieces. And I love jewelry from other countries! Shopping at Ten Thousand Villages always gets me into trouble because they have lots of fabulous pieces from other countries and I always end up spending a fortune!
