Here's a picture of the late 1950s dress that I'll be wearing to Opening on Friday. This evening I made a large burgandy velvet bow to attach at the back and my mother and I went shopping for accessories. At Target we found two cute red purses for our dresses and viewed a pair of shoes that I will order online. They're so perfect for the era! They were in the Hollywould collection. I <3 Target! Red satin hells with little bows on the back - they match the purse that I got which has a bow on the front. I tried on the dress this evening and decided to wear a brown stole, my large white pearl necklace and bracelet set - which is from the era, white opera gloves, and will attach a red velvet strip of ribbon at the waist to bring in the color red on the dress. Yay! I also found a vintage pearl hair comb that I can wear in my hair. : )
Still working on Mom's dress. She will be wearing the red dress with a white fur stole and white opera gloves. Hopefully we'll find her red shoes to match her red clutch, too. And we need to decide on jewelry yet. I'd also like to add green into her outfit somehow but haven't really figured out where it would look best.
That's the latest on the costume designing front. Back to stitching and fittings (Yay!) tomorrow.
