Revolutionary Adventures
My next project - one which will (hopefully) remain a casual endeavor will be creating a Revolutionary War era wardrobe for a reenactment at Rockford this month. My mother and I will be giving tours in the house.
I will be using mainly J.P. Ryan patterns because I want the project to remain low key and her patterns are really nice to work with. My stays are to be of pink silk. I will need to make a linen shift, a cap, the stays, and the dress - a Polonaise style dress. I am also considering what skirt support to wear underneath the dress - probably a bum roll of some sort. I have a pattern for a small 'hoop' (not sure what you call the really tiny ones), and pocket hoops, too. My mom's dress will need the Panniers, I believe. My dress will likely be of robin's egg blue silk and my mother's will be an olive/gold silk for the skirt and the same color for the jacket but with a brocade pattern.
I'm excited to make some silk dresses! They're so lovely to wear and silk is a dream to sew with. : )

Heck, Lindsey, I'm gonna want to come play with YOU...I love clothing from that period, particularly the hand embroidered fabrics! I'm sure it will be lovely, as all your projects are!
Hey Lindsey..contact me about the 1858 event...I don't think you're getting my emails.
Good luck, Lindsey!! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures :) Oh, and thanks for mentioning J.P. Ryan! For some reason I hadn't heard of those patterns before - and now I have something to use if I want to make 18th century dresses :-)
I love J.P. Ryan's patterns. They go together really well! :)
