This weekend Eric and I travelled to PSU to visit Vince and see the home football game vs. Iowa.
Friday night we walked the across the street to the NAVS leader house where they were hosting an ice cream social. The Navigators had participated in a game called Bigger and Better and the teams were meeting at the house to see who won. Each team was given a penny and was told to trade up and see what they could get with a penny. One team arrived back with an entire living room! Don't ask me how they did it. It's possible that there are too many drunks in State College willing to give away their belongings. Ha! Some other groups had some pretty incredible items as well.
Saturday morning we shopped for PSU attire before attending the football game. The game was funnish. In the PSU student section you have to stand the whole time to watch the game, so that got a little tiring, but it was a good experience anyway. : )
REVOLUTIONARY WAR COSTUME UPDATE:::
This evening I worked on cutting out the stays for my mother and I. Hers are olive green brocade and mine are salmon pink silk. There were tons of pieces to cut out. The fabric (silk), interfacing (cotton duck), facing (cotton duck), and lining (linen) times two. Tomorrow night after Bible study I will work on cutting out my shift, petticoat (if I find the perfect fabric first), and the two caps. I need to purchase the boning for the stays before I can really begin construction, but I may sort of start piecing them together anyway.
Tonight I stopped at A.C. Moore and Michael's to look for reed for the Panniers...but no luck. I suppose I will need to check elsewhere or use metal boning. At least I have plenty of that from my Cage Crinoline making days.
