1860s Croquet

This evening I researched croquet sets via the internet. I mainly focused on paintings, cdvs and other pictures so that I could get an idea of the colors of the balls. I have an original set that I'd like to refinish to take to a reenactment, but it's difficult to determine the original colors of the balls so I thought that I would research for inspiration. It seems that some balls were all one color as pictured above, while others were painted in the typical manner with a stripe across the ball. So I didn't learn too much but it was fascinating to study.

Now I need to run downstairs and finish sewing two sheer skirts for the new sheer dresses that my mother and I are making for the upcoming event this weekend. Last night I cut out my polka dot olive green silk satin swiss waist that I'm also hoping to finish for this weekend. : ) I used my new cutting table and LOVED it! Yay for super nice cutting tables!

Last week at work I helped with pattern making - it was much fun! This week it's back to stitching. I think I'm getting more confident in my abilities and feel that I'm getting faster at sewing which is very cool. ; )

Ahh, the fine art of croquet. I've never been able to master it. Maybe I'm not polite enough for such a game :)

I thought I'd ask - will you be at the Gettysburg event?

Sort of...I'll be in Gettysburg at the Daniel Lady Farm. You're not going to the Gettysburg event this weekend are you?

Yes I am, but only to spectate. It was all rather last minute, and I was astonished that we even found a hotel :)
