Tableaux Vivant
Lately I've been working on costumes for a Tableaux Vivant performance at the Belair Mansion in Bowie, MD for an EVENT I'm doing with AGSAS (www.agsas.org). I'm super EXCITED because I've been updating all of the costumes to make them more authentic. In the past I've had to compromise some authenticity standards in order to create costumes on a BUDGET that could hold up to some serious ABUSE. But finally I have a cast that will RESPECT the costumes as works of ART...which they are because they take forever to make and cost lots of $$$. : ) I'm using SILK for a lot of the dresses as well as SHEER cottons. I've been digging through my fabric stash to find a lot of the fabrics and boy does it feel GOOD to use of some of those fabrics that I've had stored FOREVER! I've also been hitting a lot of thrift stores to find various prop pieces. I'm almost done GATHERING supplies and then I can concentrate on sewing and BEADING the remainder of the costumes.
