The MET

On Friday, upon arriving in New York City, we went straight to the Metropolitain Museum of Art. It was delightful! There I took lots of pictures...mainly pretty dresses that I could use for research and inspiration in costume design.

I like the fur trim! Looks like a costume I would wear!

Me in the Museum!

This is the painting that I'm using as inspiration for my hallway painting. It was great to see it up close! Made me feel a little better about my painting so far. The brushstrokes aren't perfectly precise...sometimes I think I make things a little too meticulous. Part of the beauty of the work is the free brushstrokes.

Wonderful images! Thanks for sharing!!! Do you know the name of the portrait of the woman in white & lavendar? What a fabulous dress!!!

I love the Met!!! It's been too long since I was there.

Hope you had a wonderful time!

That portrait was by Winterhalter, 'Countess Alexander Nikolaevitch Lamsdorff' 1859

(Imagine having a name like that!)
