Living Room Decorating

This is a bedroom...not a living room. And, a very GLAMOROUS bedroom, at that.

But, it's just one of the inspiration pictures that I've compiled as a part of my living room redecoratin project. After debating for some time between going with a more Cottage and French Country look to the room, which my rather too large Calico Corner couch would have done perfectly, I decided to go with what comes naturally to me. Creating a Glamorous look. I do it all the time with clothing...so why not in my living room? So, that's the key word: GLAMOROUS.

For inspiration I've been digging through the internet searching for modern day stunning decorating - like this room from Nicki Hilton's home, and also images of 1930s rooms. Particularly those belonging to the Hollywood set. They'll give the best idea of the glamour of the day. And, I've really loved watching the movie, "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" which happened to hit store shelves at the perfect time for my room decorating. It has LOTS of lovely 1930s decorating ideas. And I am in LOVE with the little black lingerie piece that Amy Adams wears for like a second. I saw it in the preview and it pretty much made me desperate to see the movie. It's just too cute. I <3 1930s evening gowns, too. :) SO, some key elements in the room will be the antique gold velvet reclining couch which I thought would definitely go with this style. And, my lovely antique oval mirror with wood frame that I purchased recently at Goodwill after eyeing it for over a month. It was originally $100 which I just couldn't do to our decorating budget, but then it was on sale at $50...still, I didn't know where to put it. And the day after it went off sale I decided that I desperately needed to have it. So what did I do? Prayed a lot and decided that I'd go up the next day and ask for it at 1/2 price...or pay the $100 if they said no (which I promised Vince I wouldn't do but secretly secretly knew that I would have to do, so I took enough cash...hehehe). But, when I arrived at store opening it was marked down to $45. So I did a little dance, thanked God for answering my rather silly prayer, and purchased it right there. Yay! It's my new dream piece that I can't wait to get to the apartment to hang. :)

I'll be visiting again this weekend and doing a lot of decorating work so look for pictures early next week!

In the mean time, check out THIS 1930s decorating project online!
