Bustle Dress Love

Last night I got to thinking about what I wanted to make with some of the white silk that I purchased while I was still employed at S&S. The silk is very beautiful with all-over beading. I purchased several different bolts full with different beading styles because at the price I found it, I just couldn't pass it up. But, I really need to start using it! So, I pulled out a few of my fashion history books and started flipping through the pages...and now I'm super excited and brimming with tons of ideas of dresses that I just NEED to make! With the white silk - and so many other fabrics that I have!

I began researching Victorian wedding gowns and I'm mulling over the idea of making a white bustle gown from one of the bolts. It could be a wedding gown or a ballgown. Maybe I would even trim it with color. A pale blue or green? I didn't really find one image that inspired me as far as the style and pattern go, but I really like all of the dresses from the movie 'Daniel Deronda', so I may just make up my own style based on historical research and inspiration. The book 'Daniel Deronda' was written in 1876 and is set in that same era.

Tomorrow morning, after a fitting with a customer, I leave for PSU to attend their annual Arts Fest!
