Between packing for the 1858 event in Virginia this weekend, I met up with a wedding photographer to look at some of her work. She was very sweet and inspirational, and her work was FABULOUS! What an artist. I was so comfortable looking at another artist's work and it made me sad that I sort of left that life behind. I want to update my portfolio and look that pulled together! It takes time to put together a portfolio!
I'm still coming to a lot of conclusions about what I see myself doing in the future. Definitely being a wife and mother, and being there for my kids to raise them (not putting them in daycare everyday!). But I'd like to do something creative as well. Although I also recognize the potential to get caught up in working...in a lot of ways I think I have major workahaulic potential. So I'd definitely like to stay clear of that track and focus on serving God and loving others. I'm so thankful that I have a supportive fiance who wants whatever is best for me.
On another note, I love the hairstyle in the above picture! I think I want something like this for my wedding. It's very chic and elegant - sophisticated. Still working on wedding research. Things are pulling together nicely.
I'd love to have an 1860s engagement party to share this special time with reenacting friends - since I won't be inviting every reenacting friend to the wedding because of a limited budget. I have the perfect idea for a ballgown to wear to such an event, too. I'll just have to see if I have time to sew one! I should know soon if I'd have time to plan an event like that and sew a ballgown for it. I hope so!
Only a few more hours until I'll be on my way to Virginia!

What fun an 1860s engagement party would be! I, too, have been coming up with lots of ballgown ideas in hopes of attending the Harrisburg ball : )
I hope you have a great time at your 1858 event!! (And definitely post pics of your dress!!)
