The Reenactment yesterday was AMAZING! I haven't had so much fun reenacting since Landis Valley last year and the Fancy Dress Ball with AGSAS. It was totally invigorating and has revived my interest in many things associated with reenacting. : ) There was really one lady who inspired this renewed interest in reenacting. I had known her from attending balls together, but she was even more fun to reenact with. She planned the civilian part of the event and organized us to be in the house with her - because another group wasn't able to show up (their loss!). She reminded me of my friend Gaye, who collects many antique civil war era things and has decorated her house in the style of the 1860s - everything is antique. Modern day things are hidden and even the bedroom is completely historical down to the haircombs in the dresser drawer! I don't know how she does it. This woman reminded me of her because she had her period sewing supplies there and had set up a period looking sewing work area that she read about in a woman's sewing book. She was so wonderful! Her clothing was completely authentic and very beautiful even though she was only wearing a green cotton dress and corded petticoat it was stunning. Oh, how I wish that I could reenact with her more often. : )
Last night I even dreamt about civil war reenacting and saw some really lovely and authentic dresses in my dreams - I thought it was real while I was sleeping (at Remembrance Day) but when I awoke I realized that it was a dream and wished that I could have remembered the lovely dresses better. There is one outfit that I do remember well. ; )
