This is when Fashion History pays off!
I thought I recognized this dress when I saw it walking the red carpet...then while perusing the book "Goddess: The Classical Mode" by the Metropolitan Museum of Art the other night I realized that it was the Dior concoction from 1949. The "Junon" dress. Now in the MET collection. Below is a picture of the original gown that was undoubtedly the inspiration for Miley's dress.
Somehow I find the original so much classier. I like the strapless look. And it should definitely be worn by someone older and more sophisticated looking. I don't think the designer and Miley did this dress justice with their replication.
