Green Ballgown Project


Original 1860s Ballgown

Today I'm DRAFTING a pattern for the bodice of the GREEN BALLGOWN that I'm planning to make for the CIVIL WAR PRESERVATION BALL at the Harrisburg Capital building at the end of March.

I'm making a pattern from another repro ballgown that I made in the past because I lost the pattern that I had drafted. Typical. But no worries, it should be easy enough to copy the lines from the bodice and make a new pattern. :)

The bodice lines are much like those in the ORIGINAL bodice picture above. There is a center front seam (not seen on this original) and two darts on either side of the center front. The sleeves will be different than those shown. I'm still deciding on the exact design of the dress, but I have the basics down and know that I want this bodice style.
