Today I finally conquered that dreadful sewing project I was working on yesterday. It wasn't as daunting as it seemed yesterday. I knew that it wouldn't be because I've sewn things like this before, I just didn't want to do the tearing out and restitching! But I did!

This evening I worked on cutting out several travelling satchels to use for civil war events. I've been meaning to make myself one for awhile, but just never get to the point of cutting it out and stitching it. So, now it's cut out and we'll see if I get around to sewing it! I'm hoping to make one like the original on the Karen Augusta Anique Fashion website: DUFFLE BAG. I've loved this one forever! I was thinking of making a matching linen travelling jacket. I have enough linen in that color and was trying to think of something to do with it. I can't even remember why I purchased so much! I guess it was on sale? :)

Still working on the Chemise a la Reine dresses. I actually decided not to start construction yet because I'm sort of still in the design phase. The three dresses are to appear together, so I want to make sure that they each look unique, but work together stylistically. I thought that I came up with the design last night - to have one be a fitted bodice, one fitted only in the back and gathered in the front, and the third gathered the whole way around. But then I realized that since I wanted to put a blue cotton bodiced petticoat type garment underneath each of the dresses, the dresses with the fitted bodice/back would not have blue underneath them in that section. Unless I lined the bodice with blue...but then that would be irreversible. Sooo...I might still go with the design but will need to work it out a little so that the dresses look well together.
