Chemise a la Reine
Today has been a dreadful sewing day! I have felt so incompetent all day long! Ugh. I was trying to follow directions and it didn't work out...this is what always happens when I follow directions! You think that I would learn, if you can do it without directions, just go for it. It saves a whole lot of frustration. :(
Tonight I'd like to start one of the Chemise a la Reine dresses...I think. If I can be competent at it. Heh. So, I was browsing through the images of the Chemise a la Reine dresses in paintings of the era, and none of them seem to have patterns in the fabrics. But, the one original that I found online does seem to have a faint stripe in it running horizontally. But I really like the dresses with patterns in them...I just think it really adds something. So, I was thinking, should I just go with my idea to make them out of patterned fabrics? I really like the dresses in this 'Marie Antoinette' screenshot. Let me know if you have thoughts on the matter...I can't make up my mind and it would help to hear other people's thoughts. ;)
