Weekend

This weekend was FABULOUS. I went to the living history with AGSAS at the Belair mansion in Bowie, MD and had an amazing time. The tableaux went really well...there are always things that I would fix. I think that everyone enjoyed them - at least I hope so. Hopefully I will have pictures eventually. They're on my mom's camera and it usually takes her awhile to download them. After performing the tableaux three times I was exhaustified (probably not a real word, but Vince and I like to use it). I fell alseep on the front lawn of the mansion...probably not anything I've done before at an event. Hah. I loved seeing everyone else's stands, too. It was wonderful to reenact with others who put so much time and effort into their impressions - not to mention, research.

After talking with Emmanuel, I'm really excited about the 1858 'event' that I've been invited to. I can't wait to start researching! I've been telling myself to wait until after the Belair event and the 1888 immersion event, so soon I'll be able to start planning for the 1858 event. Because...

The 1888 event is not this weekend but next, and I still don't have a costume! I finally got around to cutting out the bodice tonight. Tomorrow night I will begin construction. My mother, knowing that I'm so swamped, as agreed to help me a little with it. So, I may just get done in time afterall. I've already started making the hatform. It's a straw hat with a tall crown. It went together really well so far. I didn't make a pattern or a head block or anything. I just started sewing and prayed for the best. I'm so thankful that it turned out perfectly! Wow. I've never sewn a straw hat before either so it's super cool.

Oops...had to delete my previous post because the full link wouldn't show up. Go to our photo site at
http://agsas1861-65.dotphoto.com/CPListAlbums.asp
and click on the 2007 events, and then the SAS folder, and you'll see some of the pictures!
