This weekend was AMAZING! Friday after work I drove up to PSU to visit Vince. I arrived just in time for dinner for two prepared by my sweetie. Afterwards we went bowling with the Navigators. Saturday we visited the Boul Mansion in Boulsburg - near State College. The mansion was GORGEOUS and the property had a PICTURESQUE little chapel that was a treasure trove. The door was from the 1400s - brought over in the early 1900s from Spain. It was wooden and had intricate carving. The interior of the chapel all dated back to the Renaissance and came from Spain. The family was somehow related to Christopher Columbus...I never quite caught the connection. Some of the items belonged to him. You really would never guess some of the things that were in that chapel...paintings from the Renaissance, gold and silver pieces, old old old textiles, antique Renaissance furniture - it was INCREDIBLE.
Saturday night Vince and I attended the Barn Dance with NAVS. Vince wore his 1860 civilian attire to serve as head judge of the chili contest. : ) I wore a western looking outfit with large belt and cowgirl boots. We stopped at a haloween store on the way so that I could pick up a cowgirl hat - a cute bright blue with sequin detail. : ) Yeehaw! We had a great time.
While at PSU I stayed with some of the girls in Navigators. They were soooo sweet and had such a cute little apartment. It's fun to make new friends. ; )
And...tonight I made the bustle for my 1880s dress! I'm so proud! It turned out really well and was actually not too difficult. Yay! I used the Patterns of Fashion book for my dress pattern.
I will eventually post pictures from the tableaux. I haven't even had time to look at them yet! I just need to get this 1880s dress out of the way and then I shouldn't be too busy for awhile. : )
