Making a Budget Cafe Table

While planning for our next apartment, I came up with this neat little idea for a table. I'd love a Cafe Table in our Dining Room in the corner for breakfasts together. Something UNIQUE. What about a table made from an Antique Garden Urn? It's been done before!


Some companies sell Urns and Decorative Bases for tables - pictured above and below. A little pricey though.

How about a heavy Bird Bath as a base? Above is a Christmas time end table created from one. It would be easier to find one of these in the appropriate height, and they come in lots of lovely designs, such as the 'Lotus' birdbath below.

Round tops can be purchased of glass, wood, or mirror. Glass could be backed with fabric or items could be placed in the Urn/Birdbath. And Wood could be painted - maybe even with a Lotus to match the Birdbath? The Birdbath or Urn could be painted, too. We're having Black and White curtains in our Dining Room, so what about a Black base? There are so many possibilities to crafting your own Cafe Table.
