Wanted to post sooner but had to wait until I had photo evidence from 'The Rivals.' ; ) For opening night I wanted to do something a bit themed for my attire. Opening nights are a big deal in the theatre industry. The production staff always makes it out in their best attire, and here at PSU the School of Theatre throws a catered party at one of the theatres afterwards. Two of the other costume designers and I had discussed going in 1700s gowns, but they weren't able to get tickets to opening night. So...I decided to wear a modern outfit and do my hair in a slightly 1700s style - sausage curls and a bit of height at the top with rhinestone clips scattered throughout. So here are the results. You can't really see the rhinestone clips too well in the pics, but they're there - two are clip on earrings and the other was a large round rhinestone pin. I also had a matching vintage necklace and bracelet.
So far I have only two pictures of the costumes from the show, although I'm hoping to go to the photocall this week, so I may have more later. The first is a picture of the vest and breeches that I made - worn by 'Fag' the man on the left. The other picture is of one of the actresses in a costume designed by a grad student (Adam Coffia) and constructed by another grad student, Kendra Rai, who I was assistant designer to on 'Cinders.' The jacket of the blue dress was really 'smart' looking. The front of the jacket came down longer than the back - you can see this a bit in the picture.
