I found this wonderful gown on ebay today - it's an original from the 1870's. The collar is so exciting - it would be really neat to see something like this on stage.
Today I've been working in my room for the majority of the day on patterning 1930's evening gown skirts. So far I'm still on the first one! The assignment is for my costume construction class. We're to flat pattern skirts in 1/2" scale. Which reminds me - I really want to get a 1/2" scale dress form - they're so cute! It's been hard to stay focused all day - this is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r! I really can't wait to get home and start sewing for people - and myself. I promised my mother that I would help her make a 1700s dress and stays to wear to Rockford.
Tonight Vince and I are hiking Mt. Nittany - I'm excited!
This summer I'd like it if I could get together with reenacting friends to do fun mini-events like picnics in the park, sewing parties, tea, etc. I'm hoping that I can plan a few little get-togethers like that.
Vince and I are planning to go to an event with the Hardtack Society to Harper's Ferry soon after school gets out. I probably won't have anything new to wear but it should be fun anyway. Maybe I'll get time to make a carpetbag type case to carry my belongings in. We'll be staying in period houses in the town.
I'm going to be doing a small internship at the Fulton Opera House in my spare time, and working at the Fabric Outlet a lot, so the summer is probably going to FLY by!
